What should you know before surgery?

Otoplasty is performed under local anesthesia and lasts approximately 1 hour, but of course, the longevity of operation depends on individual anatomical complexity of ears. Sutures are usually removed in 8-10 days. During the first month patients should wear an elastic bandage through the night to prevent ears deformity. After the surgery, usually the patient can be discharged from the hospital on the next day.

Possible complications of otoplasty:

  • Swelling, which always appears after surgery and persist up to 1-2 months after the surgery, but gradually disappear in the future.
  • Hematomas, usually of moderate grade of temporary nature.
  • Scars after surgery remain where they are hidden back side of ear.
